First Scouting Blog

Looking over the site today I realized I had not blogged in the Scouting section yet. I guess it's time to do that.

There really hasn't been a lot Scouting going on lately. That's not entirely true, there's always something Scouting going on. It's just lately it's been the normal Scouting stuff: Pack meetings, committee meetings, etc. So this will just be a general look at my little part in Scouting. Just over a year ago, I got back involved in my old Cub Scout pack, Pack 16 in Scranton, PA.  I have not been involved in Cub Scouts (outside of my DE days) since I was a Cub Scout.  With a son who will be Cub Scout age in a few years, I figured that was a better place to be than the Troop, at lest for me right now.

Right now I serve as the Pack Trainer. It's my personal belief that in order to have a successful Pack (or Troop/Crew) you must have a great program. The best way to have a great program is to have trained leaders who understand and follow that training. The Pack Trainer is responsible to making sure all the leaders know of the training opportunities available to them and do their best to get 100% of the leaders trained. I highly encourage every Cub Scout Pack to have a Pack Trainer, not just to fill a role, but to actually get those leaders trained.

Hmm...It looks like I did have something to write about after all.  Until next time,

Yours in Scouting,
Ken
